Black ebonised clock case

A nice little project here - a very substantial and well made case similar to a 100 year old clock Paul had last year which had a two train weight driven movement; or it could be 50 year old one?  It certainly has a plywood back and chipboard bottom, but these could have been added to the solid wood, well made body?  (It’s all part of the fun of this game!). Either way, buying this case is because you like it and want it in your home, not because of what it is ‘worth’!

It looks like this has at various times been fitted with a Deco style movement and also an older, traditional one.  An additional dial surround has reference to a battery movement being fitted in the 1980s, so suffice to say, it will take any longcase rope, chain, spring or battery movement from 1650 on that you want!

The door frame split and the glass broke when it blew over on my head when loading, but nevertheless, a cramp and some adhesive, a few pins for the back and loads of elbow grease will give you a very nice case!

£50 as is.
